Emeli Sande

Emeli Sande is a singer and song writer who was born, Adele Emily Sande, on 10th March 1987 in Sunderland.

She released her first solo single, named Heaven, in August 2011 followed by two number one singles across the UK and Ireland with ‘Read All About It’ (collaborating with Professor Green) and ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’ (collaborating with Labrinth). In 2012 her album, ‘Our Version of Events’, went to number one and stayed at the top for 10 consecutive weeks, it was also the bestselling album of 2012 in the UK.

Emeli performed in both the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the London Olympics in 2013, and in the same year the Brit Awards, at which she won two awards entitled Best British Female Solo Artist, and British Album of the Year.

In 2016, she released her second studio album ‘Long Live the Angels’, which debuted at number two on the UK album chart. Emeli was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 Birthday Honours for her services to music.
